IT’S THE SIMPLEST WAY TO SAVE ON YOUR ELECTRIC BILL.

Two-thirds of Americans can’t benefit from rooftop solar because they don’t own their home. They live in an apartment or it’s to expensive. Here’s how community solar helps solve that problem.

SOLAR SAVINGS THAT ARE SURE AS THE SUN

When you get started with community solar, you automatically receive solar credits that translate to annual savings on your power bill.

HOW TO JOIN

Let’s see if community solar is available in your area.

Check Availability
Checking is easy. Enter your zip code and click check availability.

Create an Arcadia Account
Signing up is simple. All you need is two minutes and a utility account.

Securely sync your utility account with Arcadia
The connection helps us maximize your savings based on how much energy you typically use.

Add an active payment method
Connect a payment method so solar credits can automatically be applied to your bill.

Q: Why are you asking for my utility information?
We use this information to confirm your eligibility. Syncing with the utility allows us to appropriately allocate your account to a solar farm according to your energy use. This also allows us to consolidate your bill in one place.

Q: Why do I need to pay my bill with you?
Our Auto-Pay program is a great reason to enroll; you will receive one simplified statement from Arcadia each month that includes your utility charges. Most importantly, this is how we’ll apply your solar savings each month.

Q: I already have solar panels on my roof. Can I join?
Community Solar is a limited option for members who already have direct solar installed, but if you have any friends or family in the area who are interested in supporting clean energy, please send them our way!
*Eligible Utilities with rooftop solar: Xcel Energy CO, PEPCO DC & MD, Baltimore Gas & Electric, Delmarva Power DE & MD, PSE&G NJ

Q: When will I see my savings?
Once you’re enrolled, we’ll send you emails with updates on your subscription. Once your project is on, you’ll see your savings on the next bill. You’ll also be able to see details on the Community Solar tab of your Arcadia dashboard.

Q: Can I cancel if I don’t like it?
Yes, you can cancel your subscription. There’s no fee to cancel, but once connected, getting you unsubscribed will take up to 180 days, depending on your utility provider). The good news is you’ll continue to receive solar savings until you’re removed.

Q: Does Arcadia replace my utility services?
Nope, your utility still delivers the electricity reliably to your home. We help make sure that you’re supporting clean energy with every bill and work to get you connected to a solar project.

Q: Does my home run on solar once I join?
No, there’s no change in the electricity powering your home but you are helping the grid get a little cleaner by supporting solar with your enrollment.

Q: This sounds too good to be true. What’s the catch?
We hear that a lot! The truth is that you will save money and there’s no catch. It’s part of why community solar is expanding nationally so quickly.

Q: What happens if I move?
You have enough to worry about when moving, so we keep it simple. If you move locally, your community solar credits and savings move with you. If you move outside the service area, you can transfer your credits to someone else or cancel the subscription, whatever works best for you.

Q: I’m a renter, can I still join Community Solar?
Absolutely! Community Solar is designed for people who can’t support solar traditionally. There’s no installation required so both renters and homeowners can join.

Q: What happens if my utility company changes its rates?
The great thing about the program is you will still receive an estimated savings of 5-20% (depending on your utility and location) for the power you get from the solar farm, regardless of the rate from your electric utility.

Q: What if I want to get out of the subscription?
We doubt you ever will. But, if you do, we’ll work with you to make ending your subscription a smooth process. Many solar energy providers offer no-cost termination with proper notice. We’ll make sure you understand every part of your agreement when you sign up for community solar, including how to end your subscription.

Q: What happens during winter or rainy times, when the panels don’t produce as much energy?
The amount of energy produced does change with the seasons and weather, but solar panels produce energy even when it’s cloudy. First, you’ll always have the power you need because you are still connected to your electrical utility. If the solar farm produces less energy than you’ve subscribed to, you will only be billed for the energy that is produced and the rest will be billed by your utility.

Q: What happens if the solar grid goes down?
Since you continue receiving power directly from your utility, you will continue having power if there is garden downtime

Q: How can I monitor the production of my Community Solar panel(s)?
We’ll send you a monthly report with your solar production and savings, you’ll also see the solar savings on your Arcadia statement.

Q: Why is my payment earlier with Arcadia?
Payment processing can take up to two weeks (depending on the payment method), so charging the customer at the beginning of the billing cycle rather than on the utility’s due date helps us ensure the payment makes it to the utility on time.

Q: Is my information secure?
We take security and privacy seriously and offer bank-level protection with PCI-DSS compliance for your payments, the most stringent level of certification available in the payment industry.

Q: What if my gas and electric bills are combined?
No problem! Suppose Arcadia manages your electric bills. In that case, we’ll include all of your utility charges on the electric bill – such as gas, water & sewage – in your Arcadia statement for your convenience.

Q: Can I change my bill date if Arcadia manages my utility charges?
As our billing system is automated, we cannot set a specific billing date. This timeline ensures enough margin to process your payment and get it to your utility on time.
